Advancing human rights for women’s and children’s health, my research has sought to analyze the evolution of human rights for women’s health, examine the rights of girl child soldiers, develop rights-based approaches to global breastfeeding policy, and study the evolution of child rights in global health governance – under the SDGs, in WHO policy, and through UNICEF. This focus on the intersection of gender and human rights has extended into my work with Women in Global Health, consultations on gender equity in global governance, and research on human rights in policies to address maternal health, vaginal microbicides, female genital schistosomiasis, and the health of older persons.
